  Note!
t  In Germany the “online request with GeKo-SEAT” replaces the request of the 7 character PIN as of 01.07.2004.
t  In other countries the “online request” replaces the request of the 7 character PIN as of 01.10.2004.
t  Immobilizer self-diagnosis is now only possible with vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or the vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052-.
t  Not all self-diagnosis functions are possible due to the change-over to “online request with GeKo-SEAT”.
t  Overview of functions available in self-diagnosis → Chapter.
t  The functions which are no longer possible on vehicles up to 05.00 are replaced by the programmes in “Guided functions”.
t  The functions which are no longer possible on vehicles as of 06.00 are replaced by the programmes in “Guided fault finding” and “Guided functions”.
t  The “Guided fault finding” replaces the “Self-diagnosis” on vehicles after 06.00.
General description:
Up to 08.97: a first generation immobilizer is installed in the Alhambra.
Communications between the immobilizer control unit and the engine control unit take place on the W-wire.
From 09.97 to 05.00 a second generation immobilizer is installed in the Alhambra.
Communications between the immobilizer control unit and the engine control unit take place on the W-wire.
From 06.00 a third generation immobilizer is installed in the Alhambra, one of two versions is installed depending on the type of engine.
On one version the immobilizer control unit and engine control unit communicate with one another via the data bus, on the other version this communication is via W-wire.
The corresponding communication method should be determined beforehand using the display group 001 → Anchor via the “Read data block” function → Chapter.
Communications are implemented via the W-wire if the first display zone contains the Baud rate in the form of a number.
The text “data bus” means the communication is via data bus.
The immobilizer consist of:
t  an immobilizer control unit,
t  an adapted (matched) engine control unit,
t  a reader coil on ignition lock,
t  adapted (matched) ignition keys with electronic components (transponder and response reader memory),
t  and the immobilizer warning lamp -K117-.
