Deactivating the radio block, with electronic anti-theft protection > < Electronic anti-theft protection system

functioning
After activating the electronic anti-theft protection for the first time, a numerical code is recorded in the radio unit and in the vehicle instrument panel. If, during certain installation work, the radio unit is detached from the current supply (e.g. on removing the unit or the battery), when the radio is reconnected to the current supply there will be an exchange of data between the radio unit and the instrument panel.
In doing so, the internal code of the radio is compared with the instrument panel. If both codes are the same, the instrument panel recognises that the radio fitted belongs to this vehicle and that the use of the radio can be carried out without having to re-enter the anti-theft protection code.
If the radio is replaced, the anti-theft code should be re-entered.
Deactivating the locking of the radio using the electronic anti-theft protection → Chapter.
–  Next, after connecting the -contact S- with the ignition lock, the adjustment between the instrument panel and the radio unit starts automatically.
  Note
The adjustment lasts about 5 seconds. During this time no diagnosis device may be connected.
After this the radio unit operates in the vehicle on reconnecting it to the current supply which may have been disconnected for whatever reason. It is not necessary to re-enter the anti-theft code.
The electronic anti-theft protection is activated and blocks the radio unit in the event that the unit is fitted in another vehicle or the instrument panel is replaced.
When the radio is blocked by the electronic anti-theft function, the message -SAFE- appears along with the radio serial number on the display when it is connected. After 5 seconds, 4 underscores will be displayed to indicate the position and make-up of the radio anti-theft code.
To unblock the locking, deactivate the electronic anti-theft protection → Chapter.
