General description:
The up! is equipped with a fourth-generation immobilizer with online link and download. The main component of the fourth generation immobiliser is a central database, in which all of the theft-relevant data from the participating control units is stored. Adapting the control units associated with the immobiliser is not possible without an online link to this database.
Online system test → Chapter.
t  A PIN request for the immobiliser components via fax or temporary access authorisation to the components is not available.
t  All components associated with the immobiliser must be adapted online.
t  All – including re-ordered – ignition keys are pre-coded to a specific vehicle in the factory and can only be adapted to this vehicle.
t  The relevant vehicle identification number must be specified when re-ordering ignition keys.
t  It is no longer possible to adapt components of other brands for use in Volkswagen vehicles.
Immobiliser components:
t  Immobiliser control unit -J362- → Chapter
t  Engine control unit -J623- → Rep. gr.24
t  Immobiliser reader coil -D2- → Chapter
t  Ignition key
  Note
After lock set or control units have been replaced, the „New identity on renewing all components“ function must be called up.
Immobiliser control unit -J362- functions:
t  Communication between all components associated with the immobiliser.
t  Encryption of data between associated control units.
Fault detection and fault display:
The immobiliser is equipped with self-diagnosis, which makes fault finding easier.
For fault finding, use the operating mode „Guided fault finding“ on vehicle diagnosis tester -VAS -.
