Course of the couplings of the washer fluid hoses > < Removing and installing wiper motor

Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Pressing-off lever -80-200-
  W00-0353
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
Removing:
–  Remove windscreen wiper motor → Chapter.
  W00-0427
–  Lever linkage -1- off ball head of motor crank arm -arrow- using removal lever -80-200-.

–  Unscrew securing nut -1- and pull off motor crank -3- from wiper motor shaft.
–  Undo screws -arrows-, then pull retaining plate -4- and wiper motor together with control unit -2- out of the wiper frame.
Installing:
  WARNING
t  Danger from pinching!
t  Danger of becoming caught/pinched in the rotating parts
t  Do not hold wiper motor near rotating parts after it has been removed.
–  Operate wiper motor briefly until park position is reached:
t  Reconnect battery.
t  Attach connector to wiper motor.
t  Briefly press the windscreen wiper switch (tip wipe) with the ignition switched on and allow the wiper motor to return to the park position.
t  Switch ignition OFF.
t  Release connector and pull it off the wiper motor.
t  Disconnect battery.

–  Insert wiper motor together with control unit -2- into wiper frame, place retaining plate -1- in position and secure it with 3 screws -arrows-.
–  Tighten 3 screws -arrows- to torque specified in assembly overview → Chapter.

–  Fit motor crank -4- onto shaft of wiper motor -2- so that the 3 illustrated points -1-, -2- and -3- are in line with each other.
–  Screw on securing nut -5- and tighten to torque specified in assembly overview → Chapter.

–  Press ball head -arrow- of linkage -1- onto motor crank until it latches into place.
–  Install windscreen wiper motor → Chapter.
