Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Brake-power regulator or brake system tester, e.g. -V.A.G 1310- or -V.A.G 1310 A-
t  Brake pedal arrester, e.g. -V.A.G 1238 B- or brake pedal load-V.A.G 1869/2-
t  Brake filling and bleeding device, e. g. -VAS 5234-
t  Catch pan (commercially available)
t  Repair kit SP-No. 1H0 698 311 A
t  Brake fluid → Chapter
Removing:
–  Actuate brake pedal and arrest with brake pedal arrester.
–  Position the catch pan under the brake-power regulator to collect escaping brake fluid.
–  Mark brake lines (for re-installation).
–  Unscrew brake lines from brake-power regulator.
–  Shut-off brake lines to prevent brake fluid from running out and soiling.
–  Shut-off the connections of the brake lines on the brake-power regulator with screw plugs from repair kit SP No. 1 H0 698 311 A.
–  Unscrew the nut → Item and pull out the screw → Item.
–  Screw out the oval-head countersunk screws → Item.
–  Remove brake-power regulator.
Installing:
  WARNING
Pay attention to the correct channel assignment of the brake lines. Interchanging the brake lines will result in dangerous brake control actions.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
–  Bleeding brake system → Chapter.
–  Adjusting brake-power regulator → Chapter.
   
Tightening torques:
Brake-power regulator to bracket21 Nm
Brake-power regulator to tension spring21 Nm
Brake line to brake-power regulator14 Nm
