Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Supporting device -MP9-200 (10-222A)-
t  Counterholder -T30004- with replaceable bolts -T30004/1-
t  Inserting device -T10015-
t  Camshaft lock -T10016-
t  Gasket ring extractor -T10018-
t  Torque wrench
Removing
–  First remove the two toothed belts → Chapter.
–  Turn crankshaft slightly back.
–  Lock the camshaft sprockets with camshaft lock -T10016- in the fit holes in the camshaft housing and secure them against turning → Fig..
–  Remove camshaft sprockets.
–  Unscrew inner part of the gasket ring extractor -T10018- 2 turns (approx. 3 mm) out of the outer part and lock with knurled screw.
–  Oil the theaded head of the gasket ring extractor.
   
–  Forcefully screw in gasket ring extractor -T10018- as far as possible in the gasket ring.
–  Release knurled screw and turn the inner side against the camshaft until the gasket ring is pulled out.
Install
–  Lightly oil the sealing lip of the gasket ring.

–  Insert guide bushing -T10015/2- on the camshaft stub.
–  Slide gasket ring over the guide bushing.
–  Press in the gasket ring with pressure bushing -T10015/1- and screw -T10015/3- up to the stop.
–  Install camshaft sprockets.
  Note
Pay attention to the position of the camshaft sprockets relatively to the cotter nuts in the camshafts.
–  Lock the camshaft sprockets with camshaft lock -T10016- in the fit holes in the camshaft housing and secure them against turning → Fig..
–  Tighten new screws to tightening torque 20 Nm and torque a further 1/4 turn (90°).
Installing the timing belt → Chapter.
The further assembly is carried out in reverse order to disassembly.
