Fault codes 17510 ... 18261

Fault codes 17510 ... 18261
  Note
t  The fault table is arranged according to the 5-digit fault code on the left.
t  Explanations regarding fault types (e.g. “open circuit or short-circuit to earth”) → Operating instructions for the vehicle system tester.
t  If parts are output as faulty: First of all, test all the leads and plug connections to these components as well as the earth cables of the system according to the current flow diagram. Replace the component only if this test does not reveal any fault. This applies in particular if the fault is shown as sporadic (SP).
t  When testing the earth leads, remove open circuit in wiring or short circuit according to current flow diagram → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.
  Note
t  16497 = Fault denomination
t  Intake air temperature sender -G42- = current path or fault point defective
t  Signal too small = designates fault type as text
t  sporadically occurring fault = fault which does not occur often, e.g. loose contact
t  When testing senders, injection valves and other components of the injection system → Current flow diagrams and Fitting locations.

1)  Angle sensor -1- for throttle valve drive (electronic power control) -G187- is also known as throttle valve position sender -G127-.
2)  Throttle valve drive (electronic power control) -G186- is also known as throttle valve positioner (for intake manifold) -V60-.
  Note
t  Regarding fault code 17978:
t  The immobilizer control unit is located in the dash panel insert and therefore must not be replaced individually.
t  When attempting to start with a non-adapted key a static fault is stored in the memory. If a subsequent start attempt occurs with an adpated key the fault is changed to a sporadic fault.
