Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A-
t  Adapter cable -V.A.G 1348/3-2 -
t  Measuring glasses, (e.g. -V.A.G 1602-)
t  Adapter cable set (e.g. -V.A.G 1594 A-)
Inspection requirement
l  Fuel pressure o.k., test → Chapter.
Test sequence
–  Remove the fuel rail with injection valves from the intake manifold → Chapter. The fuel hoses remain connected.
   
–  Hold the injection valves in the measuring glasses, e.g. -V.A.G 1602 -.
Check tightness
–  Initiate an actuator diagnosis → Chapter and actuate the fuel pump relay -J17-.
–  Test the tightness of the injectors (visual inspection).
With fuel pump is running, only 1 to 2 drops a minute may drip out at each injector.
If the fuel loss is greater than this:
–  Adjust fuel pump (terminate final control diagnosis) and replace defective injector → Chapter.
Testing fuel injected quantity
–  Insert the injection valve to be tested in a measuring glass, e.g. -V.A.G 1602-.

–  Lay a contact of the injection valve with the test cable and alligator clip from -V.A.G 1594 A- on the engine mass.
–  Connect the second contact of the injection valve with remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A-, adapter cable - V.A.G 1348/3-2- and auxiliary cable to battery positive.
–  Initiate an actuator diagnosis → Chapter and actuate the fuel pump relay -J17-.
The fuel pump must run.
–  Activate the button of the remote control -V.A.G 1348/3A- for 30 seconds.
–  Perform the measurement on all injectors.
–  Once all four injectors have been driven, position the graduated measuring glasses on an even base.
   Specification
   per valve: 145 ± 12 ml
–  If the measured value of one or more injection valves is outside the tolerance value, detach the fuel delivery unit (terminate final control diagnosis) and replace the defective valve (or defective valves) → Chapter.
  Note
When testing the injection rate also check the jet formation. The jet must be the same for all valves.
–  Install fuel rail with injection valves → Chapter.
