Testing jet formation and tightness
–  Remove the upper part of the intake manifold → Chapter 24-1.
–  Remove the fuel rail together with the installed injectors → Chapter 24-1. The fuel hoses remain connected.
   
–  Unplug the 4-pin connector -1- from the coolant temperature sender -G62--2-.

–  Set digital potentiometer -V.A.G 1630- side A to 15 kΩ and connect to the unplugged connector contact 3 and 4 using auxiliary cables.

–  Unplug the 4-pin connector -1- from the power output stage -N122--2-.

–  Hold the injectors in the measuring glasses.
–  Operate starter (2nd person required). The injectors must spray in a pulsing action in line with firing order.
–  Switch ignition off and inspect injectors for leaks. No more than 2 drops/min may trickle out.
  Note
t  Always fit new seals.
t  If injectors are replaced, erase the learned values and re-adapt engine control unit → Chapter 24-6.
