Position crankshaft to TDC cylinder 1 on removed engine > < Removing and installing toothed belt

Test conditions
l  Engine temperature should not exceed 40 °C.
Test sequence
–  Position crankshaft on TDC cylinder 1.
   
–  Load timing belt by firmly pressing down with thumb -arrows-. The markings on the tensioning pulley must shift -arrows-.
–  Relieve the pressure on the toothed belt and rotate crankshaft a further two revolutions in direction of rotation of engine until the engine is again positioned at TDC of cylinder 1. When doing this, it is important that the last 45° (1/8 turn) are rotated without any interruption.
–  The tensioning roller must go back to its initial position. (The notch and the lobe are again standing opposite to each other).
