Automatic test sequence
Automatic test sequence
When carrying out test and removal and installation operations, faults, such as connectors unplugged, may also be detected by other control units. This is why, when the work is concluded, that it is necessary to interrogate and erase the fault memory on all control units. Therefore it is necessary to:
–  Enter 00 for address word “Automatic test sequence” and confirm with the Q key. The vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- sends all known address words in sequence.
If a control unit responds with its identification, the display will indicate the number of faults in the memory or “No fault detected”.
Any faults stored for one of the systems are displayed in sequence. The vehicle system tester -V.A.G 1552- then transmits the next address word.

The automatic test sequence has ended when the following read-out appears on the display:
–  Erase the fault memory and carry out test drive.
–  Generate readiness code → Chapter.
Pay attention to safety precautions for test drives → Chapter.
During the test drive the following operating conditions must be fulfilled:
l  The coolant temperature should rise beyond 80°C.
l  In case of full load the speed should be increased beyond 3500 rpm.
l  Once the specified temperature has been reached, the following operating states must be reached several times.
t  Idling,
t  Partial load,
t  Full load,
t  Enrichment and
t  Trailing throttle.
–  Once again interrogate the fault memory of all the control units using the automatic test sequence.
If no fault is stored:
–  Select function 06 “End output” and switch ignition off.
