t  R134a is a fluorinated hydrocarbon (PFC) and contains no chlorine.
t  R134a has a lower atmospheric lifetime than the refrigerant R12.
t  R134a does not attack the ozone layer.
t  The contribution of R134a to the greenhouse effect is by a factor of 10 less than the effect of the refrigerant R12.
