Removing
Removing
–  Remove air filter → Engine → Rep. Gr.23 or → Engine → Rep. Gr.24.
   
Shift mechanism up to 12.00
–  Use an open-end wrench -1- to remove selector cable -A- and shift cable -B- from gearbox.
-1- = Open-end wrench SW 13, commercially available

Shift mechanism as of 01.01
–  Remove circlip -3- for shift cable from gearbox shift lever -1-.
–  Remove circlip -4- for the selector cable from relay lever -2-.
–  Remove selector cable and shift cable from the studs -arrows-.
Continued for all gearshift mechanisms

–  Disconnect the cable support from the gearbox -arrows-, if necessary first unclip tube-hose line at cable support.

–  Pull out collar with frame upwards -arrows-.

–  Open the open warm-type clamp -arrow- and pull off gearshift knob together with the collar.
–  If present, remove sound absorption.

–  Unscrew fixing nuts -arrows- attaching the shift housing.

–  Release clamping sleeve -A- and separate the exhaust system.
–  Remove the cross member -B- below the exhaust system.
–  Remove heat shields -C- and -D-.
–  Release both lower fixing screws for the shift housing.
–  Lower shift housing and pull out complete with cables to the rear.
