Removing and installing the backrest frame for the seat frame

Removing:

–	Removing seat → Chapter.

–	Remove the belt buckle → Chapter.

For vehicles with manually operated seat:

–	Pull off hand wheel -4- and seat height adjustment handle -5- from the seat -3-.

–	Remove the expanding rivets -2-.

–	Unclip seat upholstery on the left -6- and on the right -1-.

For vehicles with electrically operated seat:

–	Remove seat upholstery on the right and rear left → Chapter.

–	Disconnect plug connections for drive of the lumbar support and for drive of backrest inclination.

–	Remove rear fixing screw for retaining clip → Chapter.

For all vehicles:

–	Disconnect plug connections for seat heating -2- and for side airbag unit -3- (if present) under the seat.

–	Loosen the terminals of the electrical cable and cut through.

–	Remove screws -1- on both sides of the seat (34 Nm) and remove the backrest frame from the seat frame.

Installing:

–	Installation is carried out in the reverse order; pay attention to the following points:

Observe the fitting position of the terminals of the electrical cable.
