Removing and installing V-ribbed belt

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Locking pin -T10060 A-

t	Ring spanner wrench size 16

Removing

–	Remove the sound dampening system → Body Work; Rep. Gr.50.

–	Remove the right wheelhouse liner bottom part → Body Work; Rep. Gr.66.

Caution

Risk of damage through reversing the rotation direction of an already used V-ribbed belt.

Mark the direction of rotation with chalk or a felt-tip pen for the re-installation before removing the V-ribbed belt.

–	Loosen the V-ribbed belt by swivelling the tensioning element using the ring spanner SW 16 -in direction of arrow-.

–	Interlock the tensioning element with the locking pin -T10060 A-.

–	Remove the V-ribbed belt.

Install

Note

t	Before fitting the V-ribbed belt make sure that all assemblies (AC generator, AC compressor, coolant pump) are securely mounted.

t	Pay attention to the correct position and rotation direction of the V-ribbed belt in the belt pulley when installing it.

–	First lay the V-ribbed belt on the belt pulley of the crankshaft. Then shift the belt onto the tensioning roller.

Routing of ribbed V-belt on vehicles without air conditioning system:

1 -	Coolant pump

2 -	Tensioning device for V-ribbed belt

3 -	AC generator

4 -	V-ribbed belt

5 -	Crankshaft

Routing of ribbed V-belt on vehicles with air conditioning system:

1 -	Coolant pump

2 -	Crankshaft

3 -	Tensioning device for V-ribbed belt

4 -	Guide pulley

5 -	AC generator

6 -	AC compressor

7 -	V-ribbed belt

Further installation occurs in a similar way in reverse order to removal.

–	Start engine and check ribbed V-belt run.
