The engine identification character is also indicated on the vehicle data sticker and on the crankcase above the gearbox. |
The engine number consists of up to nine digits (alphanumeric). The first part (a maximum of 3 letters) represents the “engine code”, the second (the six part section) the “serial number”. If more than 999.999 engines with the same engine code were produced then the first digit of the six part section will be replaced by a letter. |
