Removing and installing balancing shaft timing chain
Removing and installing balancing shaft timing chain
Removing
–  Removing the camshaft timing chain → Chapter.
   
–  Remove chain tensioner for camshaft timing chain -3-.

–  Remove chain tensioner for balancing timing chain -1-.
–  Remove tensioning rail -2-.
–  Remove sliding rail -3-.
–  Remove sliding rail -4-.
–  Remove balancing shaft timing chain.
Install
  A15-10462
–  Turn intermediate shaft wheel/balancing shaft in such a way that the marking on the balancing shaft is between the markings on the intermediate shaft wheel -arrow-.
  Note
Depending on the transmission ratio, the markings cover each other only every 7th revolution.

–  Position the balancing shaft timing chain in such a way that the coloured links of the timing chain correspond with the markings on the chain sprockets.

–  Install sliding rail and tighten screws -4-.
–  Install sliding rail and tighten screws -3-.
–  Install tensioning rail and tighten screw -2-.
–  Install chain tensioner -1-.

–  Check the position of the intermediate shaft wheel/balancing shaft -arrow-.
  Note
To provide a clearer illustration, the marking of the intermediate shaft wheel/balancing shaft -arrow- is shown with the balancing shaft timing chain removed.

–  Once again check the position of the balancing shaft timing chain.
Further installation occurs in reverse order. Pay attention to the following:
t  Tightening torques: → Chapter
–  Install camshaft timing chain → Chapter.
