Removing and installing the lower part of the oil pan
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Catch pan e.g. -VAS 6208 -
t  Cleaning and degreasing agent, e.g. -D 000 401 04-
t  Sealant remover gasket stripper (bearing code GST, part number R 34402), manufacturer Retech s.r.o.
t  Silicone sealant -D 174 003 A2-
Removing
–  Remove the sound dampening system → Body Work → Rep. Gr.50.
–  Drain engine oil.
  Note
Please observe the disposal instructions!
–  Disconnect plug from oil level and oil temperature sender -G266-.
   
–  Unscrew oil pan screws -1- to -20-.
–  Remove the lower part of the oil pan. It may be necessary to loosen the lower part of the oil pan using light blows with a rubber hammer.
Install
  WARNING
Wear protective gloves when working with sealant and grease remover!
–  Remove sealant residues from sealing surface on upper part of the oil pan and on lower part of the oil pan with chemical sealant remover.
–  Degrease the sealing surfaces.
  Note
t  Pay attention to the use by date on sealant.
t  The oil pan must be installed immediately and tightened after applying the sealant.

–  Cut off nozzle tube at the front marking (Ø of nozzle approx. 3 mm).

–  Apply silicone sealant to the clean sealing surface of the lower part of the oil pan as shown. Sealant bead must:
t  be 2...3 mm thick
t  run past the area around the bolt holes on the inside -arrow-
  Note
The sealant bead must not be thicker otherwise excess sealant may get into the oil pan and block the strainer in the oil pump suction pipe.

–  Attach the lower part of the oil pan immediately and tighten the new screws in the sequence -1 to 20-.
1.  Tighten screws to 8 Nm.
2.  Torque screws a further 45°.
  Note
After installing the oil pan, allow the sealant to dry for about 30 minutes. Only then may engine oil be filled in.
Further installation occurs in reverse order. Pay attention to the following:
–  Topping up with engine oil → Octavia II.
