Unhook intermediate plate at the sealing flange on the gearbox side and at the dowel sleeves -arrows-.

Release screws -1...8-.

Press off sealing flange on the gearbox side.
Install
WARNING
Wear protective gloves when working with sealant and grease remover!

Clear sealant residues from sealing surface on cylinder block and on upper part of the oil pan with chemical sealant remover.

Degrease the sealing surfaces.

Cut off nozzle tube at the front marking (Ø of nozzle approx. 2 mm).

Apply silicone sealant -arrow- to the clean sealing surface of the sealing flange on the gearbox side as shown in the illustration.

Thickness of sealant bead: 2…3 mm

Insert guide bushing -T20097- on the crankshaft journal.
–
Slide sealing flange over the guide bushing -T20097- onto the crankshaft stub.

The sealing flange on the gearbox side must be installed within 5 minutes after applying the silicone sealant.

The sealant bead must not be thicker than recommended otherwise excess sealant may get into the oil pan and clogg the strainer in the oil suction pipe.

Immediately position the sealing flange on the gearbox side and tighten the screws in the sequence shown as follows.
1.
Tighten the screws by hand.
2.
Tighten screws to 9 Nm.
Note
After installing the sealing flange on the gearbox side allow the sealant to dry for about 30 minutes. Only then may engine oil be filled in.
