Removing and installing the high pressure pump
Removing
  WARNING
The fuel system is under pressure! Before opening the high pressure of the injection system, the fuel pressure with a remaining pressure must be reduced → Chapter.
  Note
t  Remove and install high pressure pump only on a cold engine.
t  When installing the high pressure pump, make sure that no dirt can get into the fuel system.
t  Collect escaping fuel with a cloth.
t  The O-ring and the connection fitting must always be replaced.
t  Always screw on fuel high pressure lines free of stress.
–  Remove engine cover.
   
–  Position crankshaft on TDC for cylinder 1.

–  Disconnect the plug from the fuel pressure regulating valve -N276--1-.

–  Open both fuel lines -arrows-.
  A24-10636
–  Release both screws -arrows-.
–  Carefully remove the high pressure pump. The roller tappet can remain stuck in the vacuum pump.
Install
  Note
When installing the high pressure pump, the roller tappet must be on its lowest point.
–  Replace O-ring for high pressure pump.
–  Inspect roller tappet for damage, if necessary replace.
–  Insert roller tappet into the vacuum pump.
–  Insert high pressure pump into the vacuum pump and tighten.
–  Replace connection fitting for fuel high pressure line and tighten.
–  Tighten fuel high pressure line free of tension.
t  Tightening torques: → Chapter
Further installation occurs in reverse order.
  Note
Check fuel system for tightness.
