Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Pliers for spring strap clamps
Removing
–  Remove the sound dampening system → Body Work; Rep. Gr.50.
–  Unscrew the drive shaft to the right of the gearbox flange.
–  Remove drive shaft screening from the engine (if present).
–  Remove propshaft → Gearbox; Rep. Gr.39.
  Note
The decoupling element in the pre-exhaust pipe should not be bent by more than 10° - risk of damage.
–  Remove fixing clamp for exhaust turbocharger with pre-exhaust pipe.
–  Remove support between pre-exhaust pipe and gearbox.
–  Slacken nuts of double clamp → Item.
   
–  Unscrew hanger of exhaust system -arrows-.
–  Remove pre-exhaust pipe.
Install
–  Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Pay attention to the following:

t  Replace the gaskets and the self-locking nuts.
t  Secure all hose connections with corresponding hose clips.
t  All cable straps which are detached when removing, should be attached again in the same place when installing.
–  Observe the assembly instruction for hose connections with push-fit couplings → Chapter.
–  Align exhaust system free of stress → Chapter.
