Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Catch pan for workshop crane, e.g. -VAS 6208-
t  Pliers for spring strap clamps
–  Remove pre-exhaust pipe with diesel particle filter → Chapter.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
Vehicles with four-wheel drive
–  Remove right flange shaft for angle gearbox → Gearbox → Rep. Gr.39.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Place a catch pan under the engine.
–  Detach coolant hoses from radiator for exhaust gas recirculation.
   
–  Unscrew connection pipe for exhaust gas recirculation radiator -arrows-.
  A26-10191
–  Release screw -2- and hollow screw -3-.
–  Turn the support for exhaust gas turbocharger by 90° and pull it towards the bottom out of the oil return-flow line.
  A21-10088
–  Unbolt bracket -2- for diesel particle filter.
–  Disconnect the vacuum line -1- and remove.
–  Release screws -arrows- and remove radiator for exhaust gas recirculation.
Install
Installation occurs in reverse order to removal. Pay attention to the following:
  Note
t  Replace the gaskets and the self-locking nuts.
t  Secure all hose connections with corresponding hose clips.
