Drive unit > < Removing and installing vane pump
Check the feed pressure of the vane pump
Check the feed pressure of the vane pump
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Hose clamps -MP7-602 (3094)-
t  Power-assisted steering testing device, e. g. -V.A.G 1402-
t  Adapter, e.°g. -V.A.G 1402/3 -
t  Adapter set, e.g. -V.A.G 1402/6-
–  Remove engine cover → Engine; Rep. Gr.10
–  Remove the reservoir cover for the power-assisted steering.
   
–  Disconnect the suction line and the return flow line from hose clamps -MP7-602 (3094)-.
–  Remove the sound dampening system → Body Work; Rep. Gr.50.
–  Place the oil catching pan under the vehicle.

–  Unscrew the hollow screw -1- and lay the pressure line to the side.

–  Screw the adapter, e.g. -V.A.G 1402/3-, into the vane pump in place of the hollow screw.
–  Screw the hose of the power-assisted steering testing device, e. g. -V.A.G 1402-, onto the adapter, e.g. -V.A.G 1402/3-.
–  Connect the hose from the adapter set, e.g. -V.A.G 1402/6-, to the power-assisted steering testing device and screw up the pressure line with the hollow screw.
–  Remove hose clamps -MP7-602 (3094)-.

–  Make sure that the lever on the manometer is in position -2-.
–  Start the engine and replenish the hydraulic oil level in the reservoir if so required.
–  Turn steering wheel 10 x from stop to stop.
–  Now check the feed pressure.
Test conditions:
l  V-ribbed belt and belt tension OK.
l  Tightness of the system
l  Hoses/lines are not buckled up or tangled up.

–  With the engine running at idling speed, place the shut-of valve to position -1- (for not longer than 5 seconds) and read the pressure.
