Check the fuel flow rate of the fuel delivery unit > < Checking function and voltage supply of fuel pump
Test feed pressure of fuel pump
Test feed pressure of fuel pump
Special tools and workshop equipment required
t  Pressure gauge, e.g. -V.A.G 1318-
t  Adapter, e.g. -V.A.G 1318/17A-
Test conditions
l  Battery voltage at least 12 V.
l  Fuses o.k. → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
l  All electrical consumers such as the lights and rear window heater must be switched off.
Test sequence
  Note
t  Safety precautions when working on the fuel supply system → Chapter.
t  Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.

–  Separate fuel feed line -2-, to do so press in securing ring. Unlock the quick coupling and disconnect → Chapter.
  A20-1118
–  Connect the pressure gauge -V.A.G 1318- with the adapter set -V.A.G 1318/17A- to the open ends of the fuel feed line (the illustration shows a different engine).
–  Open shut-off cock of the pressure gauge.
–  Start engine and run in idle.
–  Read the pressure on the pressure gauge -V.A.G 1318-.
l  Specified value: min. 0,05 MPa (0,5 bar)
–  Ïncrease the engine speed to 2 500 rpm and read the pressure on the pressure gauge -V.A.G 1318-.
l  Specified value: min. 0,025 MPa (0,25 bar)
If the specified value is not reached or if the feed pressure is temporarily interrupted:
–  Replace fuel delivery unit:
t  Octavia II with front-wheel drive, Yeti → Chapter.
t  Octavia II with four-wheel drive, Superb II → Chapter.
If the specified value is reached:
–  Replace the fuel filter in order to prevent a fuel filter from being blocked.
–  Check the fuel flow rate of the fuel delivery unit → Chapter.
