t  Body saw e.g. -V.A.G 1523 A -
t  Protective goggles
  Note
t  For individually replacing the front or rear silencer, a separation point is provided in the connecting pipe for repairs.
t  The separation point is marked by indentations on the circumference of the exhaust pipe.
  WARNING
In order to avoid injuries because of metal swarfs, wear safety goggles and safety clothing.
   
–  Use a body saw to separate the exhaust pipe at right angles at separation point -arrow 2- between the front silencer and the hanger.
–  When installing the rear double clamp, position on the side markings -1- and -3-.

–  Turn the rear double clamp in such a way that the ends of the screws -arrow- do not protrude beyond the bottom edge of the double clamp.
l  The bolted connection points to the rear.
–  Align the rear silencer horizontally and tighten the rear double clamp to 23 Nm.
–  Align exhaust system in cold condition free of stress → Chapter.
