Fluid Filter - A/T: Service and Repair

ATF Filter 

REMOVAL 

NOTE:  The ATF filter is maintenance free.

1. Lift-up the vehicle.

2. Using the ST, remove the ATF filter.

3. Use a new ATF filter and apply a thin coat of ATF to the oil seal.

INSTALLATION 

1. Install the A1-F filter. Turn it by hand, being careful not to damage the oil seal.

2. Using the S1, tighten the ATF filter to transmission case.

Calculate the ATF filter torque specifications using the following formula.
T2 = L2/(L1 + L2 x T1
T1: 14 Nm (1.4 kgf-m, 10.1 ft. lbs.) [Required torque setting]
T2: Tightening torque
L1: ST length 0.078 m (3.07 inch)
L2: Torque wrench length
Example:

NOTE: Align the ST with torque wrench while tightening ATF filter.

3. Add ATF.
4. Inspect the level of ATF.
