Subaru of America will prepare and mail an owner notification letter, 2-part "Recall Certification/Repair Order Form," and a parts kit to each owner of a
potentially affected vehicle. The parts kit will consist of 1-corrugated tube, 1-vinyl tube, and 2-tie wraps. This owner mailing is scheduled for
approximately the fourth week in March 1983. A copy of the owner notification letter and 2-part "Recall Certification/Repair Order Form" are included
for your information.

The parts required for installation in this campaign will be mailed directly to the vehicle owner for presentation to the dealer at the time of repair.

Under separate cover you will receive a quantity of 10 parts kits (SPS 900 200) to be used for this repair if an owner does not present one for installation,
in addition to two rolls of electrical tape for your use in this repair.

When a customer presents you with a "Recall Certification/Repair Order Form" you will:
(1)

Inspect the front wiring harness and battery hold down rod for the existence of the protective covers. If the protective covers are present, indicating
the repair has already been completed, no further action is necessary. If the protective covers are not present, the dealer will proceed to Step 2.

Inspect the wiring harness by the battery hold down rod and proceed as follows:

If any of the copper conductors of the wires are exposed, proceed to Step (A).
If none of the copper conductors of the wires are exposed, proceed to Step (B).

If any of the copper conductors of the wires are exposed, replace the front wiring harness according to the applicable Subaru Service
Manual and install the protective covers.

2.

Cut off the defective section of harness approximately six (6) inches in front of the damaged area. Save the damaged section for shipment.
