Camshaft: Service and Repair

1.

Remove timing belt and related components.

2.

Remove valve rocker assembly.

3.

For lefthand camshaft, remove cam-angle sensor.

4.

For lefthand camshaft, remove oil dipstick tube retaining bolt.

5.

For either side, remove camshaft support and camshaft. Separate O-ring and oil seal from camshaft support.

6.

Coat camshaft journals with clean engine oil, then install camshaft.

7.

Install O-ring to camshaft support.

8.

Install camshaft support and tighten to specifications.

9.

Coat new oil seal lips with a suitable lubricant, then using oil seal guide tool No. 499597000 or equivalent, oil seal installer tool No. 499587100 or
equivalent and a hammer, install oil seal to camshaft support.

10.

For lefthand camshaft, install oil dipstick tube retaining bolt.

11.

For lefthand camshaft, install cam-angle sensor. Tighten to specifications.

12.

Install valve rocker assembly, timing belt and related components.
