Fuel Filler Cap: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION 

Prevents development of a vacuum in the fuel tank in event of fuel vapor line problems and as fuel level varies. When vacuum develops in the
tank, the valve opens to admit air and thus equalize tank pressure.
