Ignitor: Testing and Inspection
CHECK IGNITION SYSTEM FOR SPARK
1.
Remove plug cord cap from each spark plug.
2.
Install new plug on plug cord cap.
CAUTION: Do not remove spark plug from engine.
3.
Contact plug threaded portion on engine.
4.
Open throttle valve fully and crank engine to check that spark occurs at each cylinder.
CHECK POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR IGNITION COIL
Voltage Test
1.
Turn ignition OFF.
2.
Unplug connector from ignition coil.
3.
Turn ignition ON.
4.
Measure power supply voltage between coil connector terminal and body.

CHECK IGNITION COIL
Ignition Coil Testing
1.
Measure resistance between coil terminals to check primary coil.

Measure resistance between plug cable contacts to check secondary coil.
