Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION

The throttle position sensor contains a potentiometer (variable resistor).  The ECM uses this signal to adjust air/fuel ratio during acceleration,
deceleration and idle. The sensor sends the ECM a potentiometer output signal corresponding to throttle valve opening.
