SUBJECT:
Air Flow Meter Sensing Unit Availability
INTRODUCTION
There is a replacement Air Flow Meter Sensing unit, Part Number 22794AA000, now available through your normal parts channels. This part should be
used to repair the airflow meter, unless there is damage to the housing. This part was previously supplied only as part of the air flow meter housing
assembly, part number 22680AA290.
NOTE:
Failure to use an OEM air filter 16546AA020 could result in damage to the new Air Flow Meter Sensing Unit.
REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
Replacement procedure of the Air Flow Meter Sensing Unit.
1.
Disconnect the air flow meter connector.
2.
Loosen the air intake clamp.
3.
Loosen clamps for the air cleaner housing.
4.
Remove the air intake housing from the engine compartment.
5.
Clean the area around the Air Flow Meter Sensing Unit to ensure no dirt enters the air flow meter housing.
6.
Remove the two tamper resistant TORX head screws (TR2O) securing the sensor to the air flow meter body.
Caution:
Use the proper TORX tool designed for tamper resistant TORX head screws.
7.
Remove the Air Flow Meter Sensing Unit from the air flow meter body.
Installation of the new Air Flow Meter Sensing Unit.
1.
Install the new Air Flow Meter Sensing Unit. Make sure the "O" ring is seated properly during installation of the Air Flow Meter Sensing Unit.
(Failure to seat the "O" ring will cause a vacuum leak)
2.
Tighten the TORX screws (TR2O) to (3.53-4.61 Nm) (0.36-0.47 kgf/m) or (2.60-3.40 ft-lbs).
Caution:
Use the proper TORX tool designed for tamper resistant TORX head screws.
3.
Reinstall the air intake housing back into the engine compartment. Ensure clamps are tightened properly; failure to do so will cause a vacuum leak.
4.
Reconnect the vehicle wire harness to the Air Flow Meter Sending Unit.
Starting the engine after installing the Air Flow Meter Sensing Unit.
1.
Connect the new select monitor and clear the memory before starting the engine.
2.
Start the engine and warm the engine coolant to over 80°C (176°F).
3.
Turn on the air conditioner. Do NOT depress the accelerator pedal.
