Oxygen Sensor Replacement

REMOVAL

NOTE:Do not use excessive force to remove the oxygen sensor, especially when the exhaust manifold is cold. Damage to the manifold may result.

1.

Disconnect sensor harness connector.

2.

Remove exhaust manifold cover plate.

3.

Apply SUBARU CRC (004301003) or equivalent to oxygen sensor threads and let stand for at least one minute.

4.

Loosen oxygen sensor by turning it 10 to 40 degrees with an appropriate tool.

5.

Repeat application of SUBARU CRC (004301003) or equivalent and let stand again for at least one minute. 

6.

Finish removing the sensor.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: Never apply anti-seize compound to the louvered end of the oxygen sensor.

1.

Apply anti-seize compound only to threaded portion of oxygen sensor.

2.

Install sensor in manifold with an appropriate tool and torque to 25 - 34 Nm (18 - 25 ft lb).

3.

Replace exhaust manifold cover plate.

4.

Connect sensor harness connector.
