Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
Vacuum Diagram (MPFI)
PURPOSE
The purge control solenoid controls vacuum allowed to the purge control valve.
LOCATION
On R.H. fender apron, in front of strut.
CONSTRUCTION
The solenoid is a typical vacuum control solenoid.
OPERATION
The canister purge control solenoid valve opens to allow fuel vapor purging from the charcoal canister when it receives a signal from the ECU
under these specified driving conditions:
^ Coolant temperature is above 40° C (104° F).
^ Driving continues for more than 105 seconds after engine start.
^ Vehicle speed is above 2 km/h (1.3 mph).
