APPLICABILITY:

1985 4-DOOR SEDAN

SUBJECT:

TORSION SPRING TOOL

Please be aware that the required Subaru special torsion spring tool is available through normal parts channels under Part Number SOA 443F400.

This tool must be used to service the trunk torsion springs for normal R&R procedures and may also be used when installing fulcrum extensions along
with Subaru's optional rear deck rack.

The procedure for use of the torsion spring tool is included with every tool and is reprinted below.

PROCEDURE FOR USE OF SPECIAL TORSION SPRING TOOL

NOTE:

When using tool on vehicles equipped with rear speakers and trunk light, PRECAUTION must be exercised to avoid damage to speaker wire
leads, trunk light switch and switch leads. This can be accomplished by disconnecting leads as necessary and moving them out of working area.
To Remove Torsion Springs

1.

Prop deck lid to hold in open position. Refer to Figure #1.
