Water Pump: Service and Repair

Water Pump And Related Components

1.

Drain coolant.  Disconnect radiator by-pass hose from water pump.

2.

Disconnect upper radiator hose from water pipe.  Remove bolts from pipe retaining bracket.  Pull pipe and O-ring seal from pump housing.

3.

Loosen pump pulley bolts until finger tight.

4.

Loosen alternator and remove drive belt.  Remove pump pulley bolts and pulley.

NOTE: The timing belts will need to be removed. Refer to TIMING BELT.

5.

Remove camshaft timing belt covers as needed to access water pump.

NOTE: Use care not to spill coolant on cam belt.  Should it occur, wipe clean immediately.
