Valve Guide Seal - Modification

SUBJECT:
OHC REPLACEMENT VALVE GUIDE SEALS

THIS SERVICE BULLETIN IS FOR INFORMATION ONLY

Intake and exhaust valve seals for all OHC engines have been modified. The new part numbers for these seals are as follows:

Intake Valve Guide Seal

- 13207KA001

Exhaust Valve Guide Seal

- 13211KA001

The modified valve guide seals are Brown in color. The original valve guide seals were Black in color.

The color of the spring on the exhaust valve guide seal has been changed from Silver to Black in order to distinguish it from the intake valve guide seal
which has a silver spring on it.

The vehicles that are produced after the July 1, 1985 production date and the following VIN's will have this modification:

When installing newly modified valve guide seals, they must be lubricated as illustrated, using the specified engine oil referred to in Section 1-3, Pages 7
& 9 of the 1985 Service Manual, and Section 1-3, Pages 8 & 10 of the 1986 Service Manual. (See Figure 1).
