Carefully raise the "Off" button shaft using a paper clip or small screwdriver and remove the spring. See figure 3.

Install the modified spring, ensuring proper seating. Note that the modified spring is shorter than the original.

7.

After confirming that the rubber valve seats are properly installed, lubricate them lightly with silicone spray, and reinstall the valve body.
Re-bend the tabs tightly against the valve body.

8.

Remove the clamp and reassemble the temperature control lever to the mode panel.

9.

Before completing installation of the mode panel, check the buttons for proper operation with and without the engine running.

Mode panel springs are available through normal parts channels under part number 72047GA570.
