Legacy Brighton Wagon AWD F4-2.5L SOHC (2000)
This Service Program involves the VIN# ranges that will need to be inspected and or replaced, SOA will not allocate parts to the dealers for this
procedure. Dealers will arrange for parts replacement through normal parts channels and using the part number in Chart 2.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Inspection
Using a mirror, check the embossed stamping on the bottom of the master cylinder. 1 indicates a 1" bore master cylinder, 1-1/16 indicates a 1-1/16" bore
master cylinder. If the master cylinder you are inspecting is embossed with a 1, follow the replacement procedure. If the master cylinder is embossed
with 1-1/16, it DOES NOT need to be replaced.
Replacement Procedure
Repair the vehicle as follows:
Caution:
Be extremely careful not to spill brake fluid on any vehicle surface. Brake fluid will harm the painted surfaces. Be sure to protect any painted surface
that may be potentially exposed during the repair process with an appropriate protective cover. Technicians should also wear safety glasses to protect
their eyes during the performance of the following procedure.
1.
Remove the master cylinder in accordance with the procedures in the appropriate Subaru Service Manual.
2.
Install the replacement master cylinder in accordance with the procedures in the appropriate Subaru Service Manual.
3.
Perform the brake/wheel cylinder air bleeding procedure in accordance with the procedures in the appropriate Subaru Service Manual.
4.
Perform the ABS Sequence Control Air Bleeding in accordance with the procedures in the appropriate Subaru Service Manual.
5.
Road test the vehicle to ensure proper function of braking system.

Credit to perform this Service Program will be based on the submission of properly completed repair order information. Dealers may enter the applicable
claim information through their Dealer Communications System (DCS).

Inspection Only - Use the following claim submission information for verification of the VIN number only. If the Master Cylinder is not within the
affected VIN numbers, or the Bore Size is correct no further action is required. A total of .2 labor hours will be credited upon claim submission.
