PLATINUM SPARK PLUG CHANGE INTERVALS

The Techline occasionally gets calls concerning the change intervals on platinum plugs and why some need to be changed at 30,000 miles and others at
60,000 miles. The reason for this is the spark plugs on 2.5L NA engines, the electrode side of this plug is platinum but the plug core side is not platinum.
Therefore, it is a maintenance interval every 30,000 miles. On the 2.5L Turbo and 3.OL engines, both the electrode side and the plug core side are
platinum. Therefore, it is a maintenance interval every 60,000 miles.
