On models with airbags, disarm airbag system as described underMAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.

Remove airbag module as outlined under BODY ELECTRICAL SAFETY AND ENTERTAINMENT/PASSIVE RESTRAINTS, AIR BAG.
3.
On all models, disconnect negative battery cable.
4.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.
5.
Remove steering shaft universal joint, then the lower instrument panel trim panel.
6.
Disconnect electrical connectors for ignition switch and combination switch.
7.
Remove two steering shaft to instrument panel retaining bolts.
8.
Pull steering shaft out from toe board.
9.
On models less airbags, remove horn pad.
10.
On all models, Remove steering wheel as outlined under STEERING SUSPENSION CHASSIS AND BODY
COMPONENTS/COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROCEDURES/STEERING WHEEL.
12.
Remove steering column upper and lower covers, then two combination switch mounting bolts.
13.
Remove combination switch.
14.
Reverse procedure to install. On models with airbags, align center of roll connector, Fig. 3.
