Transmission Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE

Detects rear wheel speed (on 4WD models) and sends a pulse signal to the TCU that is used for determining transfer oil pressure.

LOCATION

Transmission extension case, right side.

OPERATION

Sensor is a magnetic pick-up. Signal is created by indentations on the transfer clutch drum, which is connected directly to the rear wheel drive
output shaft.
