There are two different selector arm "neutral" position locations for 3AT shift linkages. The transmission
number and transmission production date will determine which location is correct for the transmission you are servicing.

Put the transmission selector lever (inside the vehicle) in the neutral position.
Loosen both adjusting nuts on the linkage rod at the selector arm on the transmission. See Figure 1.
Ensure the selector arm is in the neutral detent valve body position with no force applied to the selector arm in either forward or reverse direction.
