2005MYLEGACY REPAIR PROCEDURE OF OVERHEAD CONSOLE WHEN THE LID IS HARD TO OPEN/CLOSE
If the overhead console on a '05MY Legacy/Outback is hard to open/close, it might be caused by one of the following reasons:
(Case 1) The headliner bracket can be pinched at the back portions (see pictures). The back portion of the bracket gets pinched between the roof of the
vehicle and the overhead console. (Case 2) The wire harness or connector can be pinched between the overhead console and the roof of the vehicle (see
pictures).
Repair procedure:
(Case 1) This can be fixed by loosening the 4 mounting screws, fixing the bracket pinch points, and then re-tighten the screws.
(Case 2) This can be also fixed by simply loosening the 4 mounting screws, repositioning the wiring harness and connector position, and then
re-tightening the screws.
Parts replacement is generally NOT necessary.
