Error code "Er SP" display in the odometer/trip meter
INTRODUCTION
2005~06MY Legacy and Outback models not equipped with TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) have the TPMS wiring harness and R211
connector, even though those vehicles are not equipped with TPMS. The wiring harness and connector is located on the driver's side, under the floor mat.
If the connector comes in contact with moisture and corrosion forms, the BIU (Body Integrated Unit) may judge a speed pulse malfunction, in turn
displaying error code "Er SP". To correct this condition refer to the repair procedure listed.
COUNTERMEASURE IN PRODUCTION
The R211 wiring harness and connector will be eliminated on 06MY Legacy and Outback vehicles, with the exception to 3.0 H-6 Models, starting in
December 2005.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1)
Record radio stations.
2)
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
3)
Remove driver's side sill plate.
4)
Remove floor mat.
5)
Remove driver's side seat (refer to the applicable Subaru Service Manual).
6)
Move carpet out of the way to gain access to the wiring harness and connector.
7)
Locate TPMS wiring harness and R211 connector (white, 12 pin) (See Figure 1).
