Idle Speed: Adjustments

NOTE:  Idle speed is not-adjustable. If the idle speed is not within specifications, proceed to DIAGNOSIS BY SYMPTOM in COMPUTERS AND
CONTROL SYSTEMS.

1. Start the engine and warm to operating temperature.
2. Ensure that the "CHECK ENGINE" light is OFF.
3. Check the idle speed with all accessories off and the steering wheel in the centered position.
4. Place the transmission in neutral or park.

NO LOAD IDLE SPEED:  610 ± 100 rpm 

5. Turn the A/C on for at least 1 minute (to stabilize engine speed).

A/C ON IDLE SPEED:

With transmission in neutral:  800 ± 50 rpm 
With transmission in drive:  700 ± 50 rpm
