TRIP COMPUTER OPERATION

THIS BULLETIN IS FOR INFORMATION ONLY

The trip computer unit is an electronic device which offers the driver and passengers the convenience of selecting various functions to give an estimation
of the following items:

CLOCK - Indicates the present time by 12 hour periods am and pm.

ALARM - Works like an alarm clock to serve as a reminder for appointments, etc.

RANGE - Gives an approximate distance which can be driven before the "Low Fuel" light illuminates. This figure is based on a calculation of
average fuel useage per mile driven. Since the fuel useage is determined by electrical pulse changes in the fuel gauge unit and not on actual flow,
this range calculation is only an approximation.

TRIP - Indicates distance travelled from 0 to 999.9 miles, once reset. This is only an indicator, the mechanical odometer should be considered the
most accurate measure of travelled distance.

ARRIVE - When the approximate distance to be travelled is preset, the computer will count backwards in one mile increments electronically until
zero miles is reached. This function is only an indicator of approximately how many miles remain to be driven before the destination is reached.
The most accurate measure of distance is the mechanical odometer.

AVERAGE SPEED

Indicates the approximate average driving speed for the distance travelled. This figure is based on a computer calculation made approximately every
five seconds using speed pulses. This is only an estimation, the speedometer is the most accurate measure of vehicle speed.

NOTE:

THE TRIP COMPUTER SHOULD BE RESET TO RECEIVE THE MOST ACCURATE INFORMATION BEFORE EACH TRIP.

NOTE:

1987 4 DR, STATION WAGON, AND 3 DOOR MODELS HAVE AN ADDITIONAL TRIP COMPUTER FUNCTION, AMBIENT
OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE MEASURED IN DEGREES FARENHEIT.
