SUBJECT:

1987 ACCESSORY PRODUCT CHANGES/REVISIONS

This Bulletin describes updates which have been made to 1987 accessories and includes application charts.

A/C, Radio/Cassette, Cruise Control, Foglights, Mudflaps & Roof Rack Information

AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEMS

A.

Changes/revisions that will affect A/C kit installation into the Station Wagon, Sedan, and 3-Door include the following:

1.

Larger radiator necessitates minor changes at condenser connections.

2.

FICD is now available in a separate kit for each manufacturer.

3.

Fan pressure switch and hi-low pressure switch are combined to be a trinary switch.

4.

For current '86 A/C inventory, an adapter kit has been provided to use '86 A/C kits with an '87 vehicle. The parts number is SOA329A290.

5.

For new '87 A/C inventory, an adapter kit SOA329A280 is used when installing an 87 A/C kit in a 1986 vehicle.

B.

Specific changes for Hitachi include:

1.

Fan control relay changed to normally open (NO) position.

2.

New air conditioning kit for Justy.

C.

Specific changes for Panasonic include:

1.

New accessory kit for Station Wagon, Sedan, and 3-Door Coupe. This kit is for limited market evaluation only. The kit is the same as OEM
offered on the GL-10 Turbo Station Wagon, Sedan, and 3-Door Coupe.

RADIO/CASSETTE

A.

Changes/revisions that will affect Radio/Cassette installation into Station Wagon, Sedan, 3-Door Coupe, and XT include:

1.

Dash lighting changed to Green on Station Wagon, Sedan, 3-Door Coupe. The XT still has Orange dash lighting. Previously, all vehicles had
an orange dash lumination to coordinate with the XT dash.

2.

All 1987 Clarion Cassette Decks have Orange illumination.

3.

All 1987 Panasonic Cassette Decks have Green illumination.

4.

All 1987 Cassette Decks have Eight Pin din connectors. This is the connector between the radio and cassette deck. 1986 and prior models
have a Five Pin din connector. To use 1986 cassette with 1987 radio, use adapter SOA333E303. To use 1987 cassette with 1986 radio, use
adapter SOA333E302.

B.

From Clarion, a new Equalizer Deck is available which fits the Station Wagon, Sedan, 3-Door coupe, and XT. It features a combination
seven (7) band equalizer and logic controlled cassette deck in one unit. The cassette deck equalizer controls the radio as well as the cassette
deck to shape the sound of the program to the listener's preference.

The electronic logic control of the cassette deck includes Dolby, tape program search (TPS), auto reverse, automatic tape biasing, along with
rewind, program play, fast forward and eject.

This EQ cassette deck has a switch to change illuminatioin (orange for XT, green for Station Wagon, Sedan, 3-Door Coupe), to coordinate
with dash lighting. This reduces inventory requirements.

NOTE:

If you choose to use the EQ deck with an '86 radio, you will not have the equalizer feature while playing the radio. The equalizer will only
work on the cassette portion.

C.

For the new Justy, a Clarion AM/FM stereo kit is available. The kit will include mounting brackets, two front speakers, face plate, and hardware.

Also available Panasonic or Clarion cassette decks which are preinstalled in a console box for ease of installation.
