    Refer to Figs. 24 and 25, when performing the following procedure.

Disassembly

1.

Place attachment tool No. 926200000 in suitable vise, then attach steering gear to tool.

2.

Remove clip from boot, then push boot toward tie rod end.

3.

Remove boot, big band and medium clips, then push rack fully into gear box.

4.

Straighten tie rod lock washer, using care not to strike rack.

5.

Loosen locknut, then tighten adjusting screw until it bottoms.

6.

Remove tie rod from rack.

7.

Using spanner wrench No. 9262300000 or equivalent, loosen locknut, then remove adjusting screw.

8.

Remove spring and sleeve, then remove dust seal of dust cover.

9.

Loosen two bolts securing valve assembly, then remove valve housing assembly and valve assembly as a unit.
