Engine Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Removal and Replacement

Removal

1. Disconnect negative cable from battery.
2. Drain coolant.

3. Disconnect connector from ECT sensor (1).
4. Remove ECT sensor from water outlet pipe.

Installation 

Reverse removal procedure noting the following.
-

Clean mating surfaces of sensor and water outlet pipe.

-

Tighten ECT sensor (1) to specified torque.
Tightening torque
ECT sensor (a): 13 Nm (1.3 kgf-m, 9.5 ft. lbs.)

Connect connector to sensor securely.

-

Refill cooling system.
